Advanced training
Lifelong Learning: „Supervisory board certificate“
In theory, any person of legal age and legal capacity can become a member of the supervisory board; the letter of the law does not require more. However, today’s practice places high demands on the basic economic knowledge of the Supervisory Board. Because the more of this basic knowledge is available in a committee, the better the cooperation with the Management Board and the Supervisory Board works, because everyone meets at eye level and speaks the same language.
Even if so far neither the law nor practice prescribe a standardized examination or a supervisory board driving licence, it has nevertheless developed as best practice that every supervisory board member – on its own responsibility and for itself – has its basic economic knowledge tested. Lifelong Learning: „CyberResilience“
As a forward-thinker and supervisor, the Supervisory Board must deal with modern issues, especially if they have the potential to influence the opportunities and risks for the future of the company in a sustainable manner.
The topic of the cyber is one such topic that has reached the Supervisory Board in its work. Here it is “CyberResilience” that shows the Supervisory Board how it questions its company’s systems and processes with regard to their security and robustness. Of course, this also includes the topic of cyber security, since it has become clear that – sooner or later – every (!) company will become the victim of a hacker attack – it is just not yet clear when that will be.
As part of its supervisory function, the Supervisory Board as a body must discuss and evaluate the opportunities and risks arising from this issue. Even more than with the basic knowledge of business management, the sentence applies to this special topic that the more basic cyber knowledge is available in the committee, the better the cooperation with the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board works, because everyone meets at eye level and speaks the same language. Lifelong learning: „Digital Transformation“
As a “think ahead” and “perspective developer”, the Supervisory Board must deal with modern topics, especially if they have the potential to influence the opportunities and risks for the future of the company in the long term.
The topic of digitization is one such topic that the Supervisory Board has achieved in its work. Here it is the “digital transformation” that shows the Supervisory Board how it questions the divisions and structures of its company with regard to their future viability and internationality. Of course, this also includes the topic of artificial intelligence, since it has become clear that – sooner or later – every (!) company will become leaner and faster.
As part of its monitoring function, the Supervisory Board as a body must discuss and evaluate the opportunities and risks arising from the topic of “digital transformation”. Even more than with the basic knowledge of business management, the sentence applies to this special topic that the more basic digital transformation knowledge is available in the committee, the better the cooperation with the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board works, because everyone meets at eye level and speaks the same language.
